Midwest Weavers Conference is looking for teachers!

We invite you to submit an application to teach at the 2025 Midwest Weavers Conference, June 8-15, 2025, at Washington University, in St. Louis, Missouri. The conference theme is “Making History” and more information about the conference can be found at www.weaversguildstl.org/mwc2025

We appreciate your willingness to share your expertise. The hallmark of every guild’s traditions is the joy of sharing knowledge and talent with our fellow artists and new generations of artisans. Please join us in St. Louis for MWC 2025 and help us make history together!

We need YOU and your expertise so the conference can provide:

  • A wonderful variety of weaving and fiber arts educational experiences.

  • Opportunities to learn traditional techniques as well as new concepts.

  • Opportunities that challenge and inspire both experienced AND novice fiber artists

  • A renewed sense of community among fiber artists across the Midwest.

Workshops and Seminars: 

  • Pre-conference workshops (1, 2, or 3 days in length) will be offered Monday, June 9th through Wednesday, June 11th .

  • Conference workshops (1 or 2 day in length) will be held Friday, June 13th and Saturday June 14 th .

  • Conference Seminars (3 hours) will be held Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th.

We are seeking both lecture and hands-on seminar formats, and invite instructors to submit multiple proposals

We invite you to submit multiple proposals and we may ask you to teach multiple workshops, for example both a 3-day and 1-day workshop, or two 2-day workshops.

Application and Proposals:

Please complete the Proposal (1 for each workshop or seminar). Questions or concerns should be addressed to the Conference Education Chair at midwestweavers2025@gmail.com.

Deadline: September 1, 2024. Applicants will be notified of selection no later than December 1, 2024.

  • A minimum of 12 student registrations will be required for the workshop/seminar to move forward.

  • If a workshop/seminar does not have sufficient registrations by April 15, 2025, the class will be canceled and the instructor informed.

Instructor Compensation

  • A fee of $600 (US) per workshop day (6-hour teaching period).

  • A fee of $300 (US) per half-day seminar (3-hour teaching period).

  • Entrance to all conference events, exhibits and the vendor hall.

  • Each seminar/workshop’s cost of materials will be covered by the students attending and paid directly to the instructor. Please let us know in your proposal what the student materials fees will be.

  • A minimum of 12 student registrations will be required for the workshop/seminar to be held in order to cover the direct expenses for the class—your fees/costs and facilities costs.

Travel Expenses Overview

  • Air, train or bus travel expenses to/from St. Louis will be reimbursed by the conference based on economy fares. Receipts must be submitted for all travel expenses including fares, baggage fees and ground transportation.

  • For those traveling directly to St. Louis, the Conference Committee will arrange for ground transportation from the airport/terminal to the venue and return. We will ask for more information on your arrangements once your class has been scheduled.

  • For those driving to the conference, mileage will be reimbursed at the 2025 IRS standard rate for business use. Travel expenses for 25 miles round trip or less are not reimbursable.

  • Total travel expenses in excess of $600 will not be reimbursed without prior approval by the MWC conference committee.

Meals and Lodging Overview

  • Accommodation at one of the conference dorms will be provided. (More information to follow).

  • Per Diem for meals and other expenses of $45 per teaching day will be provided (based on estimated costs at the Danforth University Center food court).

  • Food will be available for purchase at the University’s Food Court at the Danforth University Center (DUC).

Further details will be finalized when a contract is sent to the teacher after selection.
